HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-09-08 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes s Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes of September 8, 2003 Members Present: Councilor Tremble,Thomas Hickey, Louise Shindler, Jonathan Plummer, Thomas Civiello, Matt Watkins Staff Present: Frank Comeau, Brian Enman Director's Report The Annual Cascade Park Celebration last Saturday was very successful, with approximately 3,000 in attendance. In recent years, the Celebration • has evolved into more of a family event. The final walk through at Sawyer Arena was conducted last month. The concrator has about a day's worth of work in order to complete the punch list. The Pancoe Aquatic Center is on schedule for a mid-November completion. The final numbers are not available yet but the FY03 Parks & Recreation Budget will finish in the black by about$20,000 with revenues approximately $20,000 above projections. The Golf Course should show a profit of over $160,000 for the fiscat year. The Director requested that committee members think about fees for the new swimming pool. Next month's meeting will focus on establishing fees for the pooi when it opens next year. � . Advisory Committee Minutes of 9/08/03 Page three. in response to several questions, Golf Pro Brian Enman stated that the dry spots on the back fairways are due to ledge just a few inches under the top soil. Many of the benches have been replaced or repaired, and work will continue on the project. Many golf courses have stopped putting drinking water out because they fear contamination. We will continue to have water stops because they are secured. In the future, Brian may look into putting bubblers throughout the course. The hedge at Hole#1 will be replaced with a cedar hedge this Fall. Meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m. Next meeting is October 6, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. s i
