HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-09-29 Airport Committee Minutes • AIRPORT COMIVIITTEE MEETING CITY HALL—THIRD FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1999 AT 4 PM Present: James Tyler, Committee Chair Michael Crowley, Member 7udy Vardamis, Member Michael Aube, Member Gerry Palmer, Council Pat Blanchette, Council Edward Barrett, City Manager Bob Ziegelaar, Airport Director Jeff Russell, Airport Marketing Mgr. The meeting was opened at 4 PM. by Chair Jim Tyler. Items were taken up as per published agenda. Item#1 - Airport Market Study. Representatives of Stafford Business Advisors presented their findings related to the Airport Market Study to the Airport Committee. The details are contained in a separate report on file at the Airport Department. S Item#2 - Master Plan Update. Representatives of E&K Engineers briefed the Committee about the process and activities planned in conjunction with the update of the Airport Master Plan. The specifics regarding this project are contained in a separate document on file at the Airport Department. Item#3 - Airport Business Update. The Airport Director briefed the Committee about ongoing business development issues, including his expectation that additional jet flights to Boston and NYC will be announced in the near future and Airport Management's efforts to attract improved air services from US Airways. Specifics improvements under consideration are US Airways services to Philadelphia and possible new jet services to Washington, D.C. Item#4 - Business Express Lease Amendment. The Airport Director explained the rationale for an amendment in the lease held by Business Express Airlines, which would increase the total area leased by the carrier. The Committee voted to approve the same by unanimous consent. Item#5 - BAFS Lease Amendment. The Airport Director presented the Committee with a final version of a lease agreement with BAFS, Inc. (dlb/a/Jerry's Catering). This agreement combines the airline catering and ternunal food concession into one operation, which would stabilize the food services business at Bangor International Airport. The Committee voted unanimously to recommend approval by the City Council. �
