The meeting was caUed to order by Chairman Caruso at 7:U0 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance followed. 3. The Bangor School Deparhment and the Bangor School Committee recogni2ed Mary ' Butfer, a Bangor�iigh School junior, as the 2014 Maine Stackholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP)winner. The national competition will ba held in Virginia in mid-June. This is ' Bangor High School's eighth consecutive state winner of the SJWP. B. Superintendent Webb requested amending the Agenda to remove D2.a. Physical ' Education Assessments Update and to add E.l.a.Personnel Extra Duty Assignments and d.Donations. VOTED 5-0 to arqend the Agenda as reqnested. ' D. 1. a. Superintendent Webb recommended approval af the Bangor High School Fine Arts Academy for implementatiott in the Fall af 2014. � Committee Members asked questions and voiced their support for the Academy. VOTED 5-0 to approve the Fine Arts Academy. � b. Superintendent Webb recornmended naming the James F. Daug�ty School gymnasium, the Robert Kelley Gymnasiurn.In 1991,the newly reno�ated gymnasium at the James F. � Doughty School (JFDS}, then Fi$h Street Jr. High School, was dedicated to Robert Kefley and a plaque was placed autside the gymnssium doors. This plaque still remains outside the JFDS gymnasiiun today.A Committee appraval would formalize the naming ' process and dedicate the James F. Doughty Schoal gymnasium as the Robert Kelley Gymnasium. VOTED 5-0 to apprave the naming af facilities as pressnted. � 2. b. Superintendent Webb shared an update on the FY15 Schaol Department Budget. She reviewed the most recent version of the Maine Departraent of Education's Education ' Funding Law Implementation cBart. ' Due to lack of a quorum,the May 14,2014 Regular SchooI Committea Meeting Minutes were tabled until the next meeting. ' b. Superintendent Webb recommended approval of the Apri12014 Financial Statement. Committee Member Gaerette asked about the Adult Education revenues. � VOTED 5-0 to apprave the Apri12(}14 Financial Statement as presented. , c. Princigals Ryan Enman, Gary Gonyar, and Paul Butler reported on the Bangor Schoa� Depari�nent's monitaring of academic progress as compared to report card grades. � Committee Members asked questians and made comments al�out the progress. H. 1. Chairman Canaso reviewed the impar#ant dates. ' I. Chairman �aruso tbanked the School Department faculty and staff far their hard work and commented on the end of year stretch. , Committee Member Hawes recognized Andrew Sandweiss, the newly elected Bangor High Sahool Student Council President. , J.
