The Bangor Schoal Department and the Bangor School Cornmittee recognized Bangor j High School EducationaZ Technician III,Fatriaia Jenkins,wha was named#he 2014 Maine I� � Assoaiation of Sohool Lihreries�upport Staf�of the Year. 'f j� B. Superinteadant Webb requested amending the Agenda to add D.l.d. Approval of revised a � SFRPCE Interlocal Agresrnent. � Vt.�TED S-0 to add the Agenda item as reqnested. � D. 1. a.&b. Superintendent Wehb recommended appraeal af ti�e gerforming arts struature for the � � second phase af the Bangor High School Visual Performing Arts Academy (VPA). A Prinaipal Paul Butler and members of the Visaal Arts Department staff presented an � � overview of the VFA Acaderny and the proposed courses. There is no additionai fanding � required for the VPA Academy or the additional courses. !t ;� Cammittee Members asked questions and expressed their excitemsnt of the VPA 'h � Academy and the qualifiy of the programming. � VOTED 5-0 to approv� the VPA Academy concept and the additional courses as � � presented. � c. Superintendent Webb recommended approval of budget �ilters to guide the wock in � � develaping the FY16 budget.The�lters from the previous year included: ; P • What is reyu�red to pursue the mission of academic excellence f�r all? � � • What is a�igned with the priorities outlined in the ten ycar strategic plan? • What is in the best intece�t of the students? � • What is fisca�ly responsible? � � After discussion about the fiscatly responsible filter, the Committee asked the �, Superintendent to work on the wording of the fourth filter to add a definition of fiscally � respansible. � � VOTED 5-6 ta apprave the filters and to have Superintendent Webb wark on the warding � of the fonrth filter, � � 2. �, Food Service Direetor Naelle Scott provided an update on the Bangor Schoal Deparbment � Food Service Program. She shared the importance af contir�ued monitoring af revenues and expenditvres given the negarive impact seen acrass the coun#ry with the implemen- � tation of the new federal r8gulafions. (Eashnan)abstained to approve the Minutes of the December I7,2U 24 Special School Cammittee Meeting. b. 1. VOTED 5-0 to approve the November 2014 Financial Statement � Director I�ochis noted the inereased tuitian revenues and the reduced SAC transportation � revenues at this point in the year. c. Superintendent Webb reported the foIlowing donations: � Ta William S. Cahen Schaol fram the Wiltiam S. Cahen School Boa�ter Club, a cash donation to purchase a new weight bench for the weight room to be used in p�ysical edueation classes and for physical therapy,haviag a totai dallar value of$488.13. � To Fairmount Sohaal from Rick and Heather Bernstein, a cash donation to the Pay It Forward account,having a total dollar value af$SOd. � To Downeast School from the Zunte.Club of Bangor, 2 pairs of bo4ts,f:jackets,23 hats, 18 gloves/mittens,shampao and soap,having a total dollar value of$490. - To Downeast 5chool from Toys for Tots,reading boaks,wordfind books and flash cards, � having a to�l doltar value oF$3,032.52.
