HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-11-14 City Council Minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BANGOR CITY COUNCIL—,NOVEMBER 14, 2022 Meeting Called to Order at 7.30 PM Chaired by Council Chair Fournier Councilors Present.Davitt,Hawes,Leonard,Pelletier,Schaefer, Sprague, Tremble, Yacoubagha(via Zoom), Fournier Councilors Absent.None Meeting Adjourned at 10:40 PM City Solicitor,David Szewczyk, explained that at the Organizational Meeting there was an abstention from the vote for Council Chair. City ordinance requires every member must vote on an item unless the Council votes that the Councilor has a conflict. That did not occur and the vote for Council Chair should be redone. 23-001 ORDER To Elect Council Chair Action: Motion made and seconded to nominate Richard Fournier Vote: S—4 Councilors Voting Yes:Hawes,Leonard,Sprague, Tremble, Fournier Councilors Voting No:Davitt,Pelletier,Schaefer, Yacoubagha Passed PUBLIC COMMENT Michael Beck did not think the Council was doing enough to combat homelessness and wanted to know if there was a plan. Angela Okafor felt the election of mayor was not inclusive and felt the Charter should be revisited for election of this.position. Scott Pardy and Mike Tuller would like to see the Council use some ARPA funds to address homelessness. Gibran Graham stated the downtown area was becoming unsafe and unclean and the City needed to get more involved Airport Manager, Tony Caruso, recognized his employees who won the Team Pride of Ground Handling Award Tracy Willette recognized employee, Tim Baude,for receiving the Recreation Professional of the Year Award CONSENT AGENDA ASSIGNED TO ITEM NO. Patrick Brann, owner of Half Acre,stated he employs 20+employees and wants to work with the City to come up with a resolution that will work for him and the city.
