HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-08-22 City Council Minutes MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING BANGOR CITY COUNCIL—AUGUST 22, 2022 Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM Chaired by Council Chair Fournier Councilors Absent.Davitt, Yacoubagha Meeting adjourned at 9.02 PM PROCLAMATION Proclaimed August 31, 2022 as Overdose Awareness Day PUBLIC COMMENT Joe Perry commented on the flavored tobacco ordinance recently enacted He felt there was alternate solutions if everyone had worked together. He was unclear on what he could sell and what to do with the product he has already purchased Robert Belliveau stated he was against the jail expansion, would like to see replanting of trees when other trees are removed and thought a local tax should be explored Doug Dunbar thanked the City Council for the proclamation and felt the Cares Act money could be used to assist with the problems of homelessness,substance abuse and mental health. Michael Tuller would like to see bus service in the morning on Saturday to assist the people behind Hope House to get to treatment. CONSENT AGENDA ASSIGNED TO ITEM NO. Michael Tuller asked that they not destroy this asset and allow them to obtain the report and get a building permit to remedy the problems. Deborah Laurie, City Manager, assured that the City would not move forward with demolition as long as there was action on remediating the property.
