Work of this class involves responsibility for conducting inspections of dwellings, dwelling units, and other buildings for compliance with the housing, zoning; and related code pro- visions. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORE Nakes inspections of various types of residential, business, commercial, Or other structures. Conducts inspections to determine exterior and interior violations; prepares violation notices; rechecks area for compliance adherence. Performa related work as required. Fork involves providing liaison between property owners, builders, federal housing administration, and local lending institutions and requires the use e of independent judgment in analyzing the economic value of the property involved and the financial capabilities of the loan applicants. Work is per- formed within the guidelines and regulations of the program and is reviewed by the project director through results obtained and conferences. ILLUSTRATIVE E PLES OF FORE Visits property owners, advising and assisting them i obtaining loans and grants for the improvement of property' Prepares financial analyses of potential applicants and of the property involved. Prepares loan and grant applications; serves as liaison between the owners, builders, and backing personnel. Disseminates information on low interest loan programs available. The employee of this class is responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting a community relations program involving the dissemination of information regarding the code enforcement project. Work involves responsibility for the selection of media and methods of presentation and the prepara- tion and release of all. public information in carrying out the program, under the general direction of the project director. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF !YORK Develops, coordinates, and conducts a community relations program designed to familiarize the community with the benefits of the code enforcement program. Supervises volunteer workers and participates in conduct- ing neighborhood and area -wide meetings used for informing the public of programs and procedures of the project. Organizes a speaker service to provide information to interested neighborhood organizations. Edits or prepares all public relations releases, pamphlets, brochures, and newsletters used in the program. Assists the project director in preparing periodic reports to the city council and city manager. performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGES. ABILITIES.. AND SKILLS Knowledge of modern mass communication principles, prac- tices, and techniques. Knowledge of public relations principles, practices, and techniques. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE College or university graduation, with major course work in English or journalism; experience in public information or public relations work; or an .equivalent combination of training and experience. 11/6] 520, CODE ENFORCEMENT PROJECT DIRECTOR NATURE OF WORK This is responsible administrative work coordinating the activities of the code enforcement project. The employee of this class is responsible for coordinating the activities of public and private agencies participating in the code enforcement project, work also involves responsibility for the supervision of budget and coat controls, accounting records, and the information services of the project. Super- vision is exercised over technical and clerical subordinates associated with the code enforcement project. Considerable independent judgment is exercised in cooadinating,the activities of the project. Bork is reviewed by the Zoning and Code Enforcement Officer for adherence to established regulations and for the effective- ness and quality of the program results. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK Coordinates the activities of public and private agencies participating in the code enforcement project; assures the various activities are performed in proper sequence. Supervises the control of budgetary expenditures and the. maintenance of accounting records for the project. Directs the financial assistance program in the project area through a finance specialist. Directs the program of informing the public of the bene fits and progress of the project through a community relations specialist. performs related work as required. KNOMEDGES.
