MEETING MINUTES

Chair Nichols called the meeting to order at 5:15P.M.

1.Gomez Monument –Cultural Commission Recommendation on Deaccession
Director Emery gave an overview of the subcommittee’s discussions and
recommendations. Assistant City Solicitor Saucier clarified that the subcommittee
only discussed decommission and not replacement and if the B&ED committee
desires the Gomez subcommittee to explore potential replacement that should be
a separate motion.
Councilor Schaefermoved staff recommendation, seconded by CouncilorHawes.
Roll call vote:Nichols, yes; Fournier, yes; Hawes, yes; Schaefer, yes; Tremble, yes. 5 in
favor, 0 opposed. Motion has passage.
1a. Gomez Monument –Cultural Commission Recommendation on
Deaccession
Separate motion was made directing the Cultural Commission to research, work
with various community partners, and explore potential options to replace the
Gomez Monument.
Councilor Schaefer moved the item, seconded by Councilor Hawes.
Roll call vote: Nichols, yes; Fournier, yes; Hawes, yes; Schaefer, yes; Tremble, yes. 5 in
favor, 0 opposed. Motion has passage.

2.Cultural Commission Grant Award Modification Request –Penobscot
Theatre
Director Emery gave an overview of the agenda item.
Councilor Schaefer moved staff recommendation, seconded by Councilor Tremble.
Roll call vote: Nichols, yes; Fournier, yes; Hawes, yes; Schaefer, yes; Tremble, yes. 5 in
favor, 0 opposed. Motion has passage.
3.Farmers’ Market Lease–Summer
Community& EconomicDevelopment Officer Collins gave an overview of the agenda
item regarding the lease extension permitting the Bangor Farmers’ Market to utilize Upper
Abbot Square for their summer market.
Councilor Schaefer moved staff recommendation, seconded by Councilor Tremble.
Roll call vote: Nichols, yes; Fournier, yes; Hawes, yes; Schaefer, yes; Tremble, yes. 5 in
favor, 0 opposed. Motion has passage.
3a. Farmers’ Market Lease –Winter
Community& EconomicDevelopment OfficerCollins gave an overview of the agenda
item regarding the request from the Bangor Farmers’ Market Association to hold their
winter market in Upper Abbot Square.
Councilor Schaefer moved staff recommendation, seconded by Councilor Tremble.

favor, 0 opposed. Motion has passage.
4.Urban Service District Setback Changes
Planning Officer Krieg provided review of agenda item.
Councilor Schaefer moved staff recommendation, seconded by Councilor Tremble.

favor, 0 opposed. Motion has passage.
