OBDEMMs THAT the attached report of the City Engineer showing the estimated coat and possible assessments for the construction of a commercial roadway extending east from Hogan Road to the land of John J. Cit9 Cimk Int oduced file h city Cwnoil May 2791981 : Pesaed ••C• I i CITY OF BANGOR, MAINE Engineering Department May 6, 1981 To the Municipal Officers: Reference is made to City Council Order No. 156 -AG passed February 13, 1979, directing the City Engineer to determine the cost of constructing a new roadway extending east from Hogan' Road to the property of John J. Davie. Surveys, Plans and Cast Estimates have been completed, which would provide for the following: The roadway would consist of a 24 -foot wide paved travel waywith8-foot gravel shoulders, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approximately 435 feet from Hogan Road, and thence in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately 1,110 feet to the Davis property. In addition, an 8 -inch sanitary sewer would be installed, extending from the existing sewer on Hogan Road along the new roadway for a total distance of 1,071 feet, and would include the installation of 4 man]aoles. The total estimated cost of the road is $107,800.00. Of this amount, the City would pay 50%, and the remaining $53,900.00 would be assessed against the properties benefitted. The total -estimated cost of the sanitary sewer is $29,200.00. Of this amount, the City would pay 50% and the remaining $14,600.00 would also be assessed against the prop- erties benefitted. It has previously been recommended that the roadway be constructed with the exception of paving, loaming and seeding, to be completed next year. It has further been recommended by the Finance Committee that the property owners be required to pay their estimated share of both the road and sewer assessments prior to the award of a construction contract. It is recommended that the roadway and the sewer be con structed, subject to the above mentioned conditions. Plana showing the proposed construction are on file in the Office of the City Engineer.
