T9AT the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to meet
with the School Comittee and Superintendent of Schools for purposes of
developing a plan most which the School Department Personnel, Purchasing
and Business Office functions would beperformed by the City's Purchasing
Department, Personnel Department,. and Finance Department on a
contractual basis.

Operations with Other City Departments

ORDRRRD,
THAT WHEREAS, for purposes of economy and efficiency in
city government it appears to be in the interests of the citizens
of the City of Bangor that certain administrative functions per-
formed by both the School Department and other City departments be
consolidated; and
WHEREAS, the representatives of both the City Council and the
School Committee have expressed interest in investigating such a
course of action; and
WHEREAS, any such study can be more meaningfully accomplished
by administrative staff's familiar with the day-to-day operations
of the School Department and other City departments;
ORDERED, THAT the City Manager and his staff are hereby authorized
and directed to contact the Superintendent of Schools, upon favorable
action of the Bangor School Committee, for purposes of organizing and
performing a study of the feasibility of consolidating certain
administrative .functions performed by both the School Department and
other City departments, including, but not limited to, Personnel,
Purchasing and other management functions; and further
ORDERED, THAT upon the completion of said study that the City
Manager report back to the City Council as to the result of said
study.
