HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-01-13 20-053 Order 01/13/202020-053 01/13/2020 20-053 Water Quality Management Order N/A Title, Order Authorizing Execution of a Contract with Gordon Contracting Inc in the Amount of $832,000 to Replace Climber Screens at Kenduskeag Pump Station This order will authorize the execution of a contract with Gordon Contracting Inc, in the amount of $832,000 to replace the climber screens at the Kenduskeag Pump Station. Climber screens remove large pieces of waste/debris from the waste stream thereby protecting the downstream treatment equipment. On December 18, 2019, the City received three bids for this work ranging from $1,382,000 - $1,731,857. Gordon Contracting was the low bidder for both phases of the project which included a bid in the amount of $550,000 for a phase II project to replace the climber screens at the wastewater treatment plant. However, funding for that project will be presented as part of the upcoming FY 21 budget process. Only if the funding for Phase II is approved in the upcoming budget would project approval come forward to the Council. Staff recommends awarding the contract to Gordon Contracting in the amount of $832,000 for replacement of climber screens at the Kenduskeag Pump Station. 01/06/2020 Recommend for passage 50 New Business 01/13/202020-053 CITY OF BANGOR ORDER 01/13/2020 20-053 Schaefer Authorizing Execution of a Contract with Gordon Contracting Inc in the Amount of $832,000 to Replace Climber Screens at Kenduskeag Pump Station Whereas, on December 18, 2019, the City received three bids to complete Phase I and II of replacement of climber screens at Kenduskeag Pump Station (KPS) and the Waste Water Treatment Plant; and Whereas, the bids received ranged from $1,382,000 - $1,731,857. Whereas, Phase I of the project is the KPS climber screens in the amount of $832,000; and Whereas, Phase II of the project, if approved, is approximately $550,000. Whereas, if approved, this project only includes awarding the bid in the amount of $832,000 for the KPS project. Whereas, should the Council approve the expenditure for climber screens at the Treatment Plant in the the 2021 budget, an order authorizing a second contract in the amount of $550,000 with Gordon Contract will be forthcoming. Be it Ordered by the City Council of the City of Bangor that, a contract with Gordon Contracting Inc, in the amount of $832,000, is hereby authorized for the purpose of replacing the climber screens at the Kenduskeag Pump Station.
