HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BANGOR
MEETING OF MAY 9, 2019

Chair Perkins called the meeting to order at 7:02P.M.and introduced members and
staff. He reviewed Commission oversight and processes and welcomed the audience.
PROJECT REVIEW
1.10 West Broadway –Elizabeth Eisenbarth, applicant
Install 6’ privacy fence (54’) between driveway of 18 W. Broadway and the yard of 10
W. Broadway, install 38’ cedar stockade 6’ privacy fence at rear of house to conceal
abandoned house on Union Street, install cedar 4’ picket fence along front and side
yards.
Chapter 148 –Historic Preservation, Certificate of Appropriateness
Applicant reviewed application components. House abutting in rear is abandoned which is
why she wants a privacy fence. She reviewed post materials. Post should be on inside on
rear and outside to street.
Cathy Huntley, of 18 West Broadway asked about fence height and lawn mowing. She
wanted to know if windows would be blocked, andthey would notbe blocked as per the
applicant. Rounded/scalloped top to stockade fence is planned to match window shape.
Commissioner Carter asked clarifying questions, and asked about compatibility of balusters
and columns.
The Chair closed public comments.
Commissioner Carter moved to approve theapplication for Certificate of Appropriateness,
seconded by Commissioner Burgoyne. The approval is conditioned that it is painted white
and the post locations be located as per advisorletter. Chair Perkins reminded permit
good for a year but can get an extension if requested. Unanimous vote by Commissioners.

2.Approval of April 11, 2019 Meeting Minutes–Commissioner Carter moved
approval of meeting minutes, seconded by Commissioner Burgoyne.
3.Other Business–New Historical Preservation & Planning Staff Member Anne Krieg
introduced herself and providedher background.
4.Meeting Adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
