HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-02-06 Business and Economic Development Committee Minutes BUSINESS &ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE Tuesday, February6,2018@ 5:15 PM City Council Chambers Meeting Minutes City Councilors Present: Davitt, Graham, Nealley, Nichols, Perry, Sprague, Tremble City Staff Present: Bolduc, Caruso, T. Collins, Conlow, Emery, Gambrel Committee Chair Nealley called the meeting to order at 5:15p.m. 1.Discussion on C&L Aerospace Future Expansion Chris Kilgour with C&L Aerospace providedan overview of C&L’s growth in Bangor, as well as the expansion of facilities thus far. In November 2017, C&L realized the need for more office space and component ship. C&L is seeking a “commercial arrangement”, 2-level, exp off 11/13 docks. $2MM, 10-12K s.f. Current employment is at 180-200 now. Future employment (approximate 3 years) will add 50-75 additional jobs, building spring 2019. Councilors generally support the concept, but asked Chris Kilgour to work with Tony Caruso and Tanya Emery to 2.Bangor Fiber –Presentation by Jeff Christensen, Entry Point Jeff Christiansen from EntryPoint Networks presented. Also in attendance were representatives from Neighborly and Fujitsu. Councilors support further exploration of the concept. 3.Harlow Court Parking Councilors supported removing two spaces but only for the winter. Staff will prepare languagethat can accommodate that and bring itforward for approval. 4.ORDINANCE,Amending Chapter 65, Land Development Code, Section 165-93, by Limiting Ground-Floor Residential Units in the Downtown Development District CouncilorNicholsmoved staff recommendation, Councilor Davitt seconded staff recommendation. Councilor Nichols rescinded her motion after discussion of adding an appeal process. Staff will revise the ordinance change and come back. 5.ORDINANCE,Amending Chapter 165, Land Development, of the Code of the City of Bangor, By Allowing the Use of Accessory Buildings for Home Occupations Councilor Tremble moved staff recommendation, Councilor Nichols seconded staff recommendation. Vote unless doubted, no doubt. 6.Otherbusiness.Tanya Emery provided an update on the Bangor Learning Network, which is installed and ready to be launched.
