The following City staff was also in attendance, City Manager Catherine Conlow, Rebecca Hupp and Risteen Bahr. Councilor Palmer opened the meeting. Agenda: 1. Presentation and Discussion of Financial Report. Airport Director, Rebecca Hupp indicated that we were financial strong; she handed out packets that were breakdown of revenues and expenses for FY 2011, then year to date. The largest revenue for the Airport is the sale of fuel. Next comes the expenses which salaries are 44% of the expenses and so far this quarter it shows 53%. Discussion/Questions: Councilor Durgin asked about the expense side, what was the professional and technical category. Airport Director Hupp responded that this is for services that we have to hire out for that a staff member can’s do internally. Airport Director Hupp then discussed the operating revenue; we are at where we forecasted to be for revenue. On the expense side there is an increase and that is due to the increase in payroll expenses. The next sheet has to do with fuel gallons and Parking Revenue. Both have increased for FY 11. The fuel increase was mainly due to the new Fuel Module system. Discussion/Questions: Councilor Palmer asked Hupp how the Fuel Module was doing. Hupp responded that it is doing well and the airlines are happy with it. In fact a stakeholder had asked if they could meet with Rebecca on how we do the fueling and they were very impressed and asked if they could use Bangor as a text book case of how it should be done! Councilor Durgin asked if we have a long term contract with the supplier. Hupp responded that we didn’t, that we have 3 year contract with the options for renewals. We are in our second year currently. Then next chart is the Parking Revenue per Pax. This has increased significally. This is mainly due to the price increase and we have done away with the seventh day parking free. Even with raising our prices and not having a free day we are still well below the other Airports. 2. Airport Marketing and Public Relations Update: a. Industry Update/Overview-Risteen Bahr indicated that we are in our last quarter of the year and we are predicting a good Holiday Season if the weather cooperates, but the Industry is still not up to its pre 2008 fuel prices. We do have gains and our losses are not as great as they thought. b. Trade show and Business Development Activities/Events-No tradeshows since last meeting. We did have good news from Delta. They will be adding a fifth flight to Detroit in the summer. They are also looking at adding to LaGuardia, but right now there is a slot issue. The USA traffic is happy with the Washington DC flight. They will keep that open till January or February then bring it back in the spring. The Philadelphia and LaGuardia is happy as well with the traffic. They might be able to up size the aircraft in the summer. We had a Christmas float again this year; we didn’t get any awards on it. And coming up we are having the Business after hours at the Sheraton. c. Passenger Statistics, if available- The stats were not available, they should be available by the end of the week. We are working on our new Ad campaign and that should be coming the first of the year. Discussion/Questions: Councilor Palmer asked if they would be able to preview the ad, Risteen responded if she has time she will get it to them. If not next meeting she will have it. For January the ad will be in print and radio. Then for the February/March it will be print/radio/ and TV. And they will be able to see it at the next meeting. Councilor Durgin asked if during the winter months we add additional personnel to help out with snow removal. Rebecca responded that yes we do, that we have hired about ten people to the snow removal for the winter months. Councilor Palmer asked about the Sky Bridge and what our airlines used. Rebecca responded that all of our airlines use the Jet Bridges and we do not charge for the use of them. We have 3 jet bridges at the Airport. At this time we do not have any Turbo Props, but if we did, they could not use the Jet Bridge. Councilor Palmer asked about the TSA Pat Down issue. Rebecca responded that as of right now, we do not have the new system; we may receive it in the future. We have had one general person that is opposed to it. We have had one comment regarding the Pat down and they expressed their concern. And one person comment on the length of time for waiting in line for security. Meeting adjourned.
