1. Christmas Lights for Downtown.
The Committee approved the transfer of $5,000 from the Contingent
Account to the City Council for the purpose of contributing to the
downtown Christmas lighting project. A Council Order will be prepared
for the upcoming agenda. Gwethalyn Phillips was present for discussion
of this item.
2. Community Development.
The Committee approved four loans as presented by Sally Thompson.
No action was taken on disposition of a parcel of City property, and it
will be brought back to another Committee meeting.
3. Historic Preservation Grant.
The Committee granted approval for the City to enter into the Phase
II of the Historical Preservation Grant agreement. -
4. Community Development.
The Community Development Director informed the Committee of a
situation where they had approved a loan in February of 1981 for re-
habilitation of property. on Pearl Street. There were three partners involved.
and now one partner wants to buy out the other two and assume the loan.
The Committee agreed to consider a application from the party who wants
to assume the loan provided that the second mortgage is paid off, that
payments be accelerated on A ten-year basis and providing that the
present partners remain obligated for the loan.
5. Joint Kiver£ront Meeting.
The Planning Officer informed the Committee that the Bangor, Brewer
and Hampden. Planning Board members, and other related committee members,
had been invited for a one-hour cruise on the Mt. Katandin on October 12,
1984 at noon for the purpose of discussing plans for the river frontage
being r wed by area communities. The coat of renting the boat i
$325.00. $5.00 per person will be charged and the administration requested
authorization by the Finance Committee to allow Community Development to
pick up any deficit amount. Approval was granted.
6". Bids:
a Traffic Control System.
Award was
approved to Graybar Electric Company for their
low bid of $5,328.00.
b. Leaf sweeper.
Award was approved to Sawtelle Brothers, Inc., on their low
bid of $5,295.00.
c. Wastewood Bark China.
The Committee awarded the bid to Parkway Inc., at $2.45
per cubic yard.
d. Rubbish Packer Body.
Award was approved to Maine Equipment, low bidder, at
$21,932.11.
