Bragg Continued from August 8, 2002 meeting. To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to replace existing fourth floor windows on the front and rear of the building. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness approval granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0 with the following conditions that the rear utilize transoms and the front be double hung aluminum clad windows. Item No 2. 15 Hayward Street – Anthony Hayes Continued from August 8, 2002 meeting. To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to construct a detached two car garage. Action Taken: Item continued to special HPC meeting on September 19, 2002. Item No 3. 311 Hammond Street - Robert Lorimer To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for after the fact approval to remove the white paint from the brick house, to return to the original 1831 red brick; repoint brick on the southeast side and repair lintels. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0 with the condition that the applicant be advised to seal the bricks. Item No. 4 34 Main Street - Ella Webb, Lone Wolf Leather & Gifts To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to install a wall sign constructed of PVC board. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Item No. 5 69 Highland Avenue - Hai Cong Nguyen To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to remove the existing slate roof shingles and tin work and replace with new 26 gauge galvanized metal, ice and water shield, IKO Chateau color Harvard slate on the upper deck. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted/denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Item No. 6 300 Union Street - Bangor Theological Seminary To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to install a power floodlight on the ground in front of the chapel to illuminate the chapel tower; install two small spot lights to illuminate sculpture. Also proposed is a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to paint the exterior of the building at 310-312 Whiticar Hall on the BTS campus. It is currently beige and is proposed to be painted white. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Item No. 7 72-76-80 Columbia Street - Carmen Montes To consider a request for Design Review approval to install three window signs and a wall sign. Action Taken: Design Review approval granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Item No. 8 300 Union Street - Nancy's Enterprises, Inc. To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to install a wooden fence around the outdoor play area for preschool/daycare facility. Action Take: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0 with the condition that the fence be painted white. Item No 9. 212 Kenduskeag Avenue - House Revivers To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to remove the existing first floor storm windows and replace with black Allied Storm Windows. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted/denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Item No. 10 72-80 Columbia Street - Thomas Hatch Block, LLC To consider a request for Design Review approval to install new awning covers and install new awning to match existing. Action Taken: Design Review approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0. Item No. 11 72 - 80 Columbia Street - Thomas Hatch Block, LLC To consider the request to be included in the Main Street Historic District. Action Taken: The HPC recommends to the Bangor City Council that this property be included in the Main Street Historic District with the condition that the applicant edit/revise the submittals to delete the section(s) indicating that the Main Street District is designated as a National Registered District. The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
