Paul Pasquine Associate Commission Members Present Charles Boothby City Staff Present: Jeremy Martin Historical Consultant Present: Robert Kelly Public Hearings 1. 40 Harlow Street – University of Maine Museum of Art To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to install a wall sign. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 2. 840 Broadway – Husson College To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to construct a gravel drive. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 3. 29 Hayward Street – Paul and Karyn Pasquine To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness to replace window sashes and storm windows with Brosco double hung wooden sashes and Hallmake triple track storm windows. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 4. 136 Broadway – House Revivers To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to change four windows to larger windows to meet egress requirements. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Motion amended to include the replacement of vinyl shutters with wooden shutters. 5. 48-56 Main Street – House Revivers To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to change plate glass on second floor to double hung windows, add windows in rear, remove skylight, replace sash with new wood sash in the same configuration; new landing, portico and steps on the Broad Street Side. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Motion approved with exception of skylight and rear entrance. The skylight and rear entrance will be reviewed at an upcoming HPC meeting. 6. 225 Cedar Street – John and Karen Kirk To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install a bay window, replace a door with a window, remove existing overhead garage door and replace with a French door. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. Note, that bay window, was replaced with a window due to setback issues. 7. 81 Park Street – Patricia Quirk To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install a “wrought iron” look fence on the side lawn. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 8. 136 Broadway – Weatherbee & Burlock, P.A. To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install a wall sign. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, September 16, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. in the third floor Council Chambers.
