PUBLIC HEARINGS
1. 56 Main Street – Nocturnmen Bier Café – Eugene Beck
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to
install signs.
Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0.
2. 24v Central Street – City of Bangor / Zeth and Betsy Lundy
To consider a request for Design Review approval to install a propane tank in the “pocket
park” next to Central Street Farmhouse. The propane tank will be screened.
Action Taken: After much discussion Design Review approval granted by a vote of 5 to
0, with the condition that temporary picket type fencing be installed until such time that
the exterior wall maintenance work being performed by the city is completed and then the
tank will be permanently screened with fencing and evergreen vegetation.
3. 130 Hammond Street – Massimo Ranni
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness approval to install a projecting
sign.
Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0, with
the condition that the sign be installed as presented and that the sign meet the 8’
minimum clearance from the sidewalk surface to the bottom of the sign, and that the sign
hardware be installed in to wood.
4. 1 West Market Square – Mexicali Blues
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to
install signs.
Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval granted by a
vote of 5 to 0 with the condition that the signs are designed and installed as proposed.
5. 42/44 Broadway – John Bapst Memorial High School
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness approval for the installation of
handrails and a new exterior door at an existing ramp at 42 Broadway and the installation
of miscellaneous mechanical outlets on the exterior of both 42 and 44 Broadway
Action Taken: After much discussion about the project, Certificate of Appropriateness
approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0 with the condition that the proposed aluminum door
be replaced with a wooden door and that the exterior lighting be replaced with new
lighting specifications submitted at the meeting.
6. 80 Broadway – John Bapst Memorial High School
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness approval for the installation of a
new vertical incline lift to provide to wheel chair access along with the installation of
miscellaneous mechanical outlets on the exterior of the facility.
Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted by a vote of 5 to 0 with the
condition that exterior lighting be replaced with lighting fixture specifications submitted
at the meeting and the clarification that the porch elevation change extended all the down
the entire length of the porch.
