HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-02-02 Business and Economic Development Committee Minutes BUSINESS & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE Tuesday, February 2, 2016 5:15 PM City Council Chambers MINUTES Committee Members Present: Committee Chair Councilor Graham, Councilors Durgin, Baldacci, Plourde, Nealley, Faircloth City Staff Present: Tanya Emery, Cathy Conlow, Steve Bolduc, Tyler Collins, Jeff Wallace Chair Graham called the meeting to order at 5:15 pm. 1. Commission on Cultural Development Grant Recommendations a. Bangor Symphony Orchestra Councilor Plourde disclosed he had a conflict on this item as he serves on the Board of Directors of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Councilor Baldacci moved that Councilor Plourde did indeed have a conflict, which was seconded by Councilor Durgin. The vote was not doubted, and Councilor Plourde exited the Council Chambers. Councilor Baldacci moved staff recommendation to approve the grant. Councilor Durgin seconded the motion, which passed as it was not doubted. b. Maine Discovery Museum/Maine Science Festival Councilor Baldacci moved staff recommendation. Councilor Durgin seconded the motion, which passed as it was not doubted. c. Bangor Band Councilor Baldacci moved staff recommendation. Councilor Durgin seconded the motion, which passed as it was not doubted. d. Bangor Ballet Councilor Baldacci moved staff recommendation. Councilor Durgin seconded the motion, which passed as it was not doubted. Councilors Baldacci and Nealley expressed gratitude for the work of these important arts and culture organizations in Bangor. 2. Authorizing Consent to Sublease between USABFIT, LLC and Harvest Moon Deli at 366 Griffin Road Economic Development Officer Steve Bolduc reviewed a proposed sublease of space at Union Street Athletics, which is on land they lease from the City, therefore the City must consent to any sublease of the property. Councilor Baldacci moved staff recommendation to consent to the sublease. Councilor Plourde seconded the motion, which passed as it was not doubted. 3. Subordination Request – 61 Pine Street Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator Jeff Wallace reviewed a proposed subordination agreement for a home at 61 Pine Street, on which the City holds a mortgage. It was sold through our NSP program several years ago and the owners wish to refinance. Councilor Baldacci moved staff recommendation to consent to the subordination. Councilor Durgin seconded the motion, which passed as it was not doubted. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:29 pm.
